Fuel Dampner

This device sits between the fuel filter and fuel pump. On the GTE 16v this is under the right side at the back behind the wheel, and is obviously subject to a bit of weathering.
I had a fuel leak which turned out to be the pipe from the tank to the pump. However, when I was looking at the fuel system I decided to replace the dampner before it crumbled entirely and gave me another fuel leak.

My local Vauxhall dealer had no idea what it was when I called, so it took about ten minutes and three Vauxhall parts staff before the item was ordered for £40.
It was quite tricky to remove as the dampner was so rusty and the plate which holds the dampner and fuel filter was mounted on a rubber mounting which was threatening to break at any minute.
In the end I went down to Richard Bell's garage and he got it off with the use of a lift and an impact wrench. - Sorted.
It doesnt seem to matter which way it is plumbed in - it isnt directional.
